Karl Ieuis - KI Family Store
Karl lives on the island of Tanna, home to 30,000 people in Vanuatu.
He has been working in Marlborough vineyards for Vinepower on the RSE scheme for 7 years. But, due to a medical condition Karl will not be able to continue to work on the RSE scheme.
Karl has a wife and 2 young children that he supported as an RSE worker. Karl and his wife established a store in their village of Nasituan selling non-perishable foods 2 years ago. He also grows vegetables and pigs to sell.

Karl’s village has no mains electricity, so he has only been able to sell non-perishable food. Karl saw an opportunity to sell frozen goods to his villagers but needed an electricity supply.
Karl has used his loan to purchase solar panels, a battery and chest freezer so he can provide his village with frozen meat. He will ship the meat in bulk and sell small packages for families to cook with.
The Good Pick Fund Loan
Village to Village has lent Karl 410,000VUV (aprox. $6,000 NZD) from the Good Pick Fund to purchase his solar system and freezer. Karl plans to pay the loan back within 2 years with the profit from selling frozen goods.
