Vitivae Layers

Alain lives in Ambae, an volcanic island of 10,000 people in Vanuatu.

He has been working for in Marlborough vineyards on the RSE scheme for Hortus for 12 years, where he progressed from a pruner to supervisor during that time.

Alain has a wife a 3 young children that he supports as an RSE worker.

Vitivae Layers
The only egg supply on Ambae comes from eggs imported to the island on a 3hr ferry trip. Alain saw an opportunity go grow eggs on the island and sell them at a roadside stall.

Alain will use the Good Pick Fund loan to establish Vitivae Layers on his land in Ambae. The loan will enable him to buy 100 hens, chicken feed, build a chicken house to protect his laying hens and fence off a large area where he will raise his hens for egg production.

The Good Pick Fund Loan
Village to Village has lent Alain 650,000VUV (aprox. $9,000 NZD) from the Good Pick Fund to establish his poultry farm. He plans to pay the loan back within 2½ years with the profit from his egg business.
